SEEFOR is a World Bank intervention project in Niger Delta region as part of its contribution to the Federal Government Amnesty Programme toward reducing poverty and unemployment. It focuses on increasing citizen’s involvement in local development as well as the desire to deepen good Governance in promoting poverty reduction and effectiveness and sustainable development.
Basically, the project was executed in conjunction with the State Government. SEEFOR engaged youths (women and men) both graduates and non graduates for twelve (12) months starting from May 2014 till date. The programme has engaged good numbers of youths across the State.
Similarly, the project does not only create jobs by extension but also assisted in addressing the issues of militancy, criminality, insurgency and other social vices through effective engagement of unemployed youths in the State.
- Reduction of crime rate and health hazard
- Promotion of quality of good health in the society
- Enlighten communities attitude towards sanitary issues
- Improvement on the living standard of people
SEEFOR has greatly impacted in a positive manner in the reduction of health challenges of people. This is as a result of cleaning of gutters, cutting of grasses and collection of waste which may naturally encourage vector incubation of mosquitoes that transmit malaria. In other words, citizens are enjoying improved health and well being.
The environment has become cleaner, more beautiful and conducive for living. It also helps to increase the earning power of men, women and youths as it creates employment for them.
