The Umbrella NGO team paid a technical support mission visit to DTS-NEWMAP SPMU. The meeting was participatory as SPMU officers and the State Focal NGO team gave briefings of the work done so far across the 5 sites in Delta State. The Project Coordinator, highlighted key milestones in the state which include the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, Livelihood Needs Assessment, and the on-going Resettlement Action Plan (RAP). Additionally, the Executive Director of Global Peace Development; State Focal NGO Esike Ebruke presented highlight of the FNGO activities across the sites. He stated that over the last 11 months, Stakeholder analysis, intervention awareness workshop, community outreaches, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA), Peace and Conflict Impact Assessment (PCIA), road shows, establishment of grievance redress mechanism, and capacity building workshop for selected CA executives has been facilitated.
The Umbrella NGO team lead, Virgy Ifeadiro commended the SPMU and FNGO for the milestones achieved so far and further buttressed the importance of the livelihood enhancement component of the NEWMAP project. She encouraged the SPMU to focus on initiatives that would contribute to conservation and preservation of the environment like waste to wealth initiatives.

Thereafter, the team proceeded to Ukwu-Nzu for a field visit to interact with community members and leaders.
His Royal Majesty, the Obi of Ukwu-Nzu was quite elated by the visit as his confidence in the project was further strengthened. The Umbrella NGO team lead, Virgy, briefed the community members present on the various components of the NEWMAP intervention. The members of the Obi in Council affirmed that all the information the team lead highlighted corroborates what the state FNGO and the SPMU officers have said since the project began.
