WOMEN PEACE AND SECURITY NETWORK

The Delta State Women Peace Security Network (WPSN) seeks to build peace and reduce violence against women and girls through gender based violence analyses, participatory engagement, policy advocacy, prosecution, protection and promote influential participation of women and girls in governance and peace building platforms.

RESULTS

  • Increased visibility of Women Peace and Security in Delta State.
  • Inclusion and Participation of women in community decision making processes and peace building.
  • Intensified advocacy against harmful traditional and cultural practices that inhibits or obstruct the ineffective implementation of United Nations Security Council 1325.
  • Consolidate support and Partnership with relevant stakeholders on domestication and implementation of SAP.
  • Increase in the confidence of girls in public schools and women in communities to report issues on gender based violence and conflict.
  • Critical Stakeholders engaged and commitment secured on the adoption of the Local Action Plan (LAP) in LGAs, and State Action Plan (SAP) in the State.
  • Local Action Plan Committee set up and knowledge of women in Ukwuani, Ughelli North and  Oshimili South LGAs enhanced on the needs to identify challenges that confronts them , and needs to  develop a policy guide to serve as a working tool for them.
